Gov. Ducey proclaims 20 Oct. 2022 as Great Arizona ShakeOut Day

Governor Ducey has proclaimed 20 Oct. 2022 as the Great Arizona ShakeOut Day – see the attached jpeg. Arizona has earthquakes and earthquake hazards. Registration for Oct. 2022 Great Arizona Shakeout earthquake preparedness drill is approaching 29,000; our goal this year is to register 100,000+! ShakeOut is scheduled for Thursday, 20 Oct. at 10:20 a.m.; perfectly timed for participation of Arizona’s community colleges and universities. As of 12 Sept. 2022, ~29,000 Arizonans are register to "Drop-Cover-Hold On".
The Ask! Please share ShakeOut with school administrators and teachers and encourage them to engage their students in “Drop-Cover-Hold On” to prepare for the ground shaking that accompanies earthquakes. The 2-minute ShakeOut Drop, Cover, & Hold-On exercise is elegant in its simplicity, easy to practice and learn, and will save lives and reduce serious injuries.
